361. Share the Hope

Key verse:  How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
Isaiah 52:7

Wow!  Have you ever been told that your feet are beautiful?  Evidently, if you believe the good news that we have been learning about for this past year, and share it with others, in God’s eyes, that’s just how you look, not only to Him, but to those with whom you are sharing.
Why wouldn’t you share?  Do you share recipes, fashion tips, why not share the best news of all with those you love the most?

Remember Jesus Great Commission and promise?  “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  (Matt. 28:19-20)  His mission is our mission and what a friendship you can begin!  Jesus really is someone who can relate to whatever we are going through.  He truly cares because, in some way, He has been there too.  Better yet, He has conquered our fears and our sorrows.  He has conquered death.  He is the victor and in Him, we can be too!  Sharing this is like inviting someone to be on the winning team.

Remember that because God so loved the world, when you pray for another, you are automatically praying His Will because He loves that person more than you and wants a relationship with that other person more than you.  He died for that person and He doesn’t want that “Paid in full,” to go to waste.  He wants to gather them into the fold!  Remember, Jesus Himself said that “the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.”  (Matt. 9:37)  Don’t hold back.  He is with you.  In Him, you can!

Faithful Through the Ages

Luke 2:22-38 Listen Link:  http://www.firstcovenantcadillac.org/#!this-weeks-sermon/c20mw Forgive the buzz on this one. I had a cold and my voice was way down. One of the odd little quirky things that Kathy and I like to do from time to time is walk through old cemeteries and read the tombstones. Sometimes there are interesting little tidbits of information or a verse of Scripture that give a hint to what kind of person lies beneath our feet. Often, however, there is just the name, the date born and the date of death with just a dash between. The dash represents the whole life lived between the two dates, so it would contain most of the interesting information, but it is hidden from us. All we can do is pick up little clues that can be gleaned from the names, dates and from the other tombstones around the one we are looking at. If there are a cluster of stones all containing the same last name, then we may be able to figure out the family relationships; who was the parent, wh

322. Book Ends

Job 19:23-27 , Psalm 16 , 1 Corinthians 15:50-58 Key verses: "I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end He will stand upon the earth." Job 19:25 "Where O death, is your victory?  Where O death is your sting?  Thanks be to God!  He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 15:55-&-57 Way back at the beginning of our journey we described Job as an example of a man without the hope of Christ. O how he longed for a mediator between he and God, to plead his case and move the heart of God with compassion in his situation.  He longed to be relieved from his suffering.  We described Job as a man, like so many today, who have no hope of a savior or of a personal relationship with God.  Yet, remarkably, the Holy Spirit reached out to the heart of Job to help him know, without seeing, that there is a redeemer, the one he yearned for and that someday, even after he is dead and decayed, he would meet that One face to face.  Job
