215. For Jesus, The Time Is Come!

Key Verse: "You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly."
Romans 5:6

We are now about to enter the time, of what the church, in its tradition, refers to as "Holy Week." I once heard an old radio preacher named, J Vernon McGee, explain biblical history this way. In the first eleven chapters of Genesis, God revealed all that we needed to know about the first 2,000 years of civilization. Then, when Abraham was chosen, time slowed down and we are treated to glimpses of the lives of many of the descendants of Abraham because they are a part of Jesus’ earthly heritage. Now, for these next eight days, the magnifying glass has come out. God doesn't want you to miss a single detail of His most amazing gift. This is His masterpiece and He wants you to know it well. More of scripture is focused on this next week than any other biblical narrative. In fact, we will be examining this week of our Lord's life for the next one hundred plus days, until Christ rises from the dead.

Remember that we began this journey in Genesis, at the birth of sin. Even then, we saw that God was in control. "But when the time had fully come, God sent His son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons." Galatians 4:4-5 Now, as we examine the prophesies mingled with the events that actually take place, we can easily see that God was always in control. None of this was a surprise that God had to work around to make do.

The time has finally come for the grand finale, the fulfillment of the purpose for His coming. We discussed this concept with the passage in Galatians at Jesus’ birth, and now, again, the time has come for the events to unfold that will crush satan's head once and for all. The way will be paved for Christ to redeem us and reclaim us as His own. God, our creator, will become our sin. Whoever heard of such a thing?  The wisdom of God truly is folly to man. (See 1 Cor. 3:19)

Mark 7:15 Approximately six hundred years before Jesus, the people of Judah had sinned so badly by ignoring the word of the Lord that God allowed them to be punished by being destroyed by the Babylonians. Jerusalem was completely ruined. Many of the citizens were killed and only a relatively few, referred to as "the remnant," were carried off to live in Babylon for 70 years before being allowed to return and begin again. This event proved to be a real wake up call for the people. The priests and Levites developed an extensive list of rules and regulations by which the people were to live that would outline very clearly how not to break the Ten Commandments again, or any of the whole Law, or "Torah," from Moses in the first five books of the

Spiritual Warfare

Scripture: Ephesians 6:10-18 Listen Link:  http://www.firstcovenantcadillac.org/#!this-weeks-sermon/c20mw There’s a war on! And it’s not overseas. I am not talking about the war on terrorism. I am talking about the war in which your heart is the battle ground. It is a war between spiritual forces of good and evil. The victory is ours in Christ. The battle belongs to the Lord. But we are called to play our part. That is why Paul instructs believers like you and me to “be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.”  The life of discipleship gives us no time to relax and live our lives ignoring the spiritual battle. We are ordered to fight. It’s not a pleasant metaphor these days. But Paul had no qualms about telling Christians to be good soldiers, prepared for battle. Even when we do take a Sabbath and rest in the Lord, it is only so that we made ready for the next battle. But this kind of battle won’t wear us out if we are strong in the lord. In fact, we will rejoice! This is not a gr
