January 24 You’ll See, He Remembers

The wise inherit honor, but fools He holds up to shame. ~Proverbs 3:35

“Tell the righteous it will be well with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds.” ~Isaiah 3:10

“God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.” ~Hebrews 6:10-12

“The sins of some men are obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them. The sins of others trail behind them. In the same way, good deeds are obvious, and even those that are not cannot be hidden.” ~1 Timothy 5:24-25

“But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” ~Matthew 12:36-37

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sews. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction. The one who sews to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. ~Galatians 6:7-10

I think that, sometimes, we are tempted to be discouraged because, despite our best efforts, it seems as though we go unnoticed and unappreciated. Even God is silent when we have given our all and, in the moment, from our perspective, have gained nothing, changed nothing, accomplished, nothing. “Where are You God? Why aren’t you noticing? Why aren’t You helping as You promised You would?”

This is why, in wisdom, we must remember that we are to walk by faith and not by sight! God does see. Do you receive an inheritance when you want it? Do you receive it immediately? In trust, be assured that it will all be sorted out. Honor will be given to those who have remained faithful, generous and righteous. Shame will come to those who have squandered or have been prideful and not submitted to His ways and wisdom. It will all be sorted out in the end.

In the meantime, be assured that God does see your acts of faithfulness. He is pleased that you are staying the course. Even His silence, for a time, may be a part of His journey for you. He is faithful to His promises. He is a rewarder of those who earnestly seek Him. (Heb.11:6) May this day simply be as an encouragement to you, faithful servant. Your Heavenly Father sees your efforts and He is pleased.

Prayer: Thank You Lord for watching over me, even as I slept. Nothing escapes your attention. Help me to live today so that you are pleased to sign your name to my life, and you get the credit for any artful obedience in me, whether the world sees it or not. In Jesus' name, amen.

Also, the Right to Life Bus is still traveling this morning. Please keep them safe.

258. "Remember, Always Remember!"

Exodus 12:1-30 Key Verse: "This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the Lord a lasting ordinance." Exodus 12:14 "Celebrate the feast of unleavened bread, because it was on this very day that I brought your divisions out of Egypt. Celebrate this day as a lasting ordinance for the generations to come." (Exodus 12:17) "And when your children ask you, "What does this ceremony mean to you?" then tell them, "It is the Passover sacrifice to the Lord, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when He struck down the Egyptians." (Exodus 12:27) The original act was an act of worship as the first true act of freedom for the people of Israel. They had been brought to Egypt by Joseph during a time of famine so that through Joseph God could preserve their lives. ( Genesis 37 , & 39-50 ) After Joseph died, however, instead of heading back to C...

This Little Light of Mine

Scripture: Psalm 130 Listen Link: www.lcepc.org then look for “sermons” tab. It’s the first Sunday of Advent. Today we lit one candle and heard the passage, in Isaiah 9, about the great light! We have heard that the great light is the child born to us on Christmas day. It is Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us. Christmas is a day we will truly celebrate as we have for years and years, and our ancestors before us for centuries. Christmas is coming! Advent means coming! It is good to spend the next few weeks reflecting on all that it means for us. We begin from the depths of darkness. The world is still suffering the effects of sin. We are still suffering the effects of a world broken by sin. And not just the consequences of our own sins. According to Romans 8:22, “We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.” The fires in California, the floods and storms on the East coast, and all the other natural disasters we hear ab...

August 13 What Is Fitting

It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury—how much less for a slave to rule over princes! ~Proverbs 19:10   On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. They shouted, “This is the voice of a god, not of a man!” Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died. ~Acts 12:21-23  Wow! Well, what in the world can there be to benefit us here? First of all, perhaps we should review the first Biblical definition of a fool, penned by no other than Solomon’s Father, David himself. “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’” (Psalm 14:1 and Psalm 53:1) It is not fitting for the fool to live the blessed life. Why should they when they deny from whom all blessings flow?  King Herod was a fool. Now, just to be clear, this is not the Herod who ruled at Jesus’ birth and ordered the slaughter of the male children in Bethlehem. He ...
